Active efforts are made in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to conclude this year successfully as a proud year of victory and more and more units strive to save even a watt of electricity, the basic power of the economy.

The Rangnang Disabled Soldiers’ Essential Plastic Goods Factory is one of those units saving a lot of electricity while overfulfilling their assignments under the national economic plan every year.

Chief Engineer Kim Tuk Su says: “Our factory produces plastic goods. 80 percent of equipment we use is electric heating equipment including injection-remoulding and moulding machines. The heating time has to be shortened to save electricity. We rebuilt the open production process into the closed one. As a result, we could save electricity about 15 percent by shortening the heating time by half.”

Besides, the factory has organized alternative production of workteams and at machines in a rational way to reduce the power load and increase the effectiveness of the production.

The Malgunachim Electric and Electronic Goods Manufactory has recently developed a power factor compensating device and introduced it into different production units. Actually, if the power factor is raised one percent on a nationwide scale, reserve for economization can be got, which is equivalent to the construction of a big power plant.

Official Kim Song Il says: “We use new condenser when making the automatic power factor compensating device. On the other hand, we recycle electrostatic condensers kept idle at factories and enterprises and those units which introduced them have less installation costs and benefit from the technology for safe operation.”

The Pyongyang Taedonggang Fish Restaurant produces electricity by itself.

The restaurant built solar power generation system in a wide area of its roof. It produces hundreds of kilowatts of electricity a day for business activities.

There is a saying that many a little makes a mickle. All the units take an active part in the work for saving electricity with the consciousness that every watt of electricity is the precious source of creation promoting the advance of the country.
