A military parade for celebrating the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War was grandly held in the capital city of Pyongyang on the evening of July 27, the eternal holiday of victory of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Newly developed unmanned strategic reconnaissance plane and multi-purpose offensive drone which the Air Force will be equipped with made a circular flight in the sky over the square for demonstration.

Then, youth and students danced to increase the festive mood.

When the defenders of the country in the 1950s, the masters of epoch-making feats in the war, who gave us the privilege and greatest honour of celebrating the great war victory year after year entered the square amid the fireworks, youth and students presented them with bouquets and flowers and the people gave a big hand to them.

The State Merited Chorus entered the square to play musical pieces for military parade.

A ceremony of the General Military Band was held as a prelude to the military parade.

Parading units entered the square in a stately manner.

When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, arrived at the square, there was a solemn ceremony of the guard of honour of the Korean People’s Army for receiving him.

Kim Jong Un, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the DPRK, received a salute from the commander of the guard of honour of the KPA and reviewed the guard of honour and colours of major units of the army.

He was greeted by commanding personnel of the Ministry of National Defence and commanders of the large combined units and combined units of the KPA.

Kim Jong Un came out to the rostrum of the square.

Children presented him with fragrant bouquets.

The rostrum was taken by Ri Pyong Chol, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Party and Secretary of the Party Central Committee, commanding personnel of the Ministry of National Defence, and commanders of the large combined units, political commissars and commanders of the combined units of the KPA.

The reserved seats of the rostrum were taken by senior officials of the Party and the government and veteran cadres who had long worked in the Party, government and military organs.

Invited to the rostrum were General Sergei Shoigu, Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Li Hongzhong, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, and other members of the Russian military delegation and the Chinese party and government delegation on a visit to the DPRK to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Korean people’s victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War, and Russian and Chinese diplomatic representatives in the DPRK.

The reserved seats were also taken by the participants in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

A solemn ceremony of hoisting the national flag of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was held.

A 21-gun salute was fired in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

Kang Sun Nam, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Minister of National Defence of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, made a speech.

Then, there was a preliminary inspection of the military parade.

Marshal Ri Pyong Chol inspected the parading units.

He reported to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the DPRK that the military parade for celebrating the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War was prepared.

The grand military parade started with the entrance of the column carrying a portrait of the great leader Kim Il Sung, which is symbolic of commanding officers during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Symbolic columns marched with portraits of brave generals of the anti-Japanese war and the anti-US confrontation war in the van. The column symbolic of guard company that resolutely defended the Supreme Command during the war and the columns symbolic of the first guards unit and legendary guards division and guards regiment of the revolutionary armed forces entered into the square one after another, carrying portraits of commanders of the guards units.

The square was passed by the columns of railway workers, the Ministry of the Interior and juvenile and men and women guerrillas during the Fatherland Liberation War, fluttering the red flag and the flag of the Children’s Union. The columns of mechanized units during the war also passed through the square.

Passing by the square were the columns of the Guard Section of the Party Central Committee, the Guard Department of the State Affairs Commission, the Guard Bureau and the Guard Headquarters.

Marching were a number of parading columns including those of front corps of the army, strategic force, special operation force, unit active behind enemy lines and in mountains, armoured tank division, mechanized infantry division, Kim Il Sung Military University and Kim Jong Il Military and Political University.

The planes representing a five-point star and the figure “70” flew past the sky over the square.

Columns of tactical missiles and long-range cruise missiles and columns of the strategic weapons of the DPRK vigorously passed through the square.

When the Second Red Flag Company of the General Missile Bureau entered into the square, leading the new-type intercontinental ballistic missile “Hwasongpho-18”, the spectators expressed their great excitement and joy.

The column of the intercontinental ballistic missile “Hwasongpho-17” passed through the square, led by the hero launching vehicle. The missile is an entity of the absolute strength of the powerful state and people capable of terminating the imperialist tyranny on the globe and saving the future of humanity; it is an image of our strategic force, a treasured sword of justice and peace.

When the military parade was over, fireworks were set off.

Kim Jong Un held his hand high to warmly acknowledge the enthusiastically cheering masses.
