The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited the Martyrs Cemetery of the Chinese People’s Volunteers in Hoechang County of South Pyongan Province and paid a noble tribute to the martyrs on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.

He was accompanied by Jo Yong Won, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Secretary of the Party Central Committee; Kang Sun Nam, Minister of National Defence of the DPRK; Choe Son Hui, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Kim Song Nam, Department Director of the Party Central Committee, and Kim Yo Jong, Deputy Department Director of the Party Central Committee.

A guard of honour of the Korean People’s Army was lining up at the Martyrs Cemetery of the Chinese People’s Volunteers.

The national anthems of the People’s Republic of China and the DPRK were solemnly played.

Amid the playing of the wreath-laying music, the wreath in the name of Kim Jong Un was laid at the Monument to the Martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers.

Kim Jong Un observed a moment’s silence in memory of the fallen soldiers of the Chinese People’s Volunteers who devoted their precious lives in the righteous war of the Korean people to repulse the aggression of the imperialists.

He laid a flower at the tomb of Mao Anying laid in state in the Martyrs Cemetery of the Chinese People’s Volunteers and paid respects to him.

Kim Jong Un, together with the accompanying senior officials, looked round the tombs of martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers.

He said: The sons and daughters of the Chinese people made a crucial contribution to the victory in the war, supporting and encouraging the sacred anti-imperialist and anti-US struggle of the Korean people with their heroic sacrifice. Their lofty soul and spirit have been vividly written in history as a foundation and example of the DPRK-China friendship which will be immortal along with the socialist idea.

The hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War was a war of justice to safeguard our dignity, honour and sovereignty and defend the global peace and security; it was an acute political and military confrontation in which we fought against the imperialist ruling forces on behalf of the peace-loving forces and the progressive humanity. The great victory won by the peoples of Korea and China at the cost of their blood is invariably displaying its tremendous viability today, too, beyond the century.

The precious lives of the martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers will be eternal in the minds of the Korean people. And the history and tradition of unity of the peoples of the two countries will be firmly carried forward by the posterity as they are resolutely smashing the reactionary offensives of the imperialists by dint of justice and truth with the ties of kindred in the sacred struggle for accomplishing the socialist cause, the cause of anti-imperialist independence, he added.
