The construction of the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm has been adopted as the most important task of construction policy of the Party and the state for this year and accelerated with success under the energetic leadership of the Central Committee of the great Workers’ Party of Korea which gives top and absolute priority to the promotion of the people’s welfare. The farm has been wonderfully completed on the occasion of the significant 77th founding anniversary of the WPK.

The inaugural ceremony of the farm, a large-scale vegetable producer, was grandly held on October 10.

The respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, was present at the ceremony.

The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm has been wonderfully built into a world’s leading large farm, a modern farm whose automation has been ensured on a high level and a base of rural civilization of Korean style according to the decision of the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee. It is another gift of love given by the Party to the people, a wealth of prosperity and a new entity that brought about a change in the socialist rural development.

Kim Jong Un has always paid attention to providing vegetables to the people in Hamhung City, an important industrial and academic city of the country, and South Hamgyong Province, regarding it as a crucial matter. To this end, he conceived a grand plan to change an air base on the eastern front into a large-scale greenhouse farm, became the operator and builder and energetically led the construction work.

True to the noble intention of the Party Central Committee, service personnel of the People’s Army built the large greenhouse farm only in over 230 days.

More than 850 hydroponic and edaphic hothouses which have been put on a modern, intensive and industrial footing in a wide area of 280 hectares, over 1,000 dwelling houses characteristic of locality, schools, house of culture and comprehensive public service amenities are in good harmony in every section, forming a large farm area demonstrating the civilization of a new era.

Kim Jong Un sent warm congratulations and militant encouragement to the entire soldier-builders who have built a marvellous greenhouse farm on a vast plain by successfully implementing the order of the Party Central Committee.

Attending the inaugural ceremony were Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the DPRK, and Jo Yong Won, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Secretary for Organizational Affairs of the Party Central Committee.

Present there were leading officials of the armed forces organs, commanding personnel of the People’s Army units involved in the construction and soldier-builders.

Also on hand were Ri Jong Nam, Chief Secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, and other officials, working people in the province and employees of the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm.

The national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played.

An inaugural address was made by Jo Yong Won, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Secretary for Organizational Affairs of the Party Central Committee.

He warmly waved back to the soldier-builders and other people for a long time in acknowledgement of their enthusiastic cheers.

He looked round the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm together with senior officials of the Party, the government and the military.

Commanding a bird’s-eye view of the expanse of greenhouses, he said with pleasure that the construction of the large-scale modern greenhouse farm has made it possible to supply fresh vegetables on a regular basis in all seasons to the workers and scientists in Hamhung City who are making great efforts in developing the economy, science and technology of the country and to other people in South Hamgyong Province.

He praised time and again that it is the greatest of miracles which can be wrought only by the People’s Army that such a wonderful great farm area could be built only in a few months. He called nearby the commanding officers of the construction unit who have successfully performed the duty as the commanding personnel of the revolutionary army in building a great creation for the people, keeping the love of the Party for the people deep in their hearts and had a photo taken with them.

He stressed the need to build such a large-scale greenhouse farm as the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm in each province and put the vegetable production on a modern, intensive and industrial basis in order to fully provide the people with vegetables under the condition of natural climate of the country.

He said it is necessary to build a communist rural village in the Ryonpho area and it is a plan of the Party Central Committee to more powerfully and confidently accelerate the overall rural development of the country with the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm as a model. And he presented specific tasks and ways for the purpose.

Kim Jong Un gave thanks in the name of the Central Committee of the WPK to the soldier-builders who have perfectly carried out the most important task of construction policy of the Party and the state for this year within the period set by the Party and on the level demanded by the Party by displaying their boundless loyalty and devoted fighting spirit of resolute implementation in the Ryonpho area.
