The Academy of Defence Science of the DPRK test-fired newly- developed hypersonic missile of “Hwasong-8” type in Toyang-ri, Ryongnim County, Jagang Province in the morning of September 28.

Pak Jong Chon, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, watched the test launch with leading officials in the field of defence science.

The development of hypersonic missile, one of the five top-priority tasks in the field of strategic weapon of the 5-year plan for development of defence science and weapon systems, has been promoted according to the successive, scientific and reliable development process.

The development of the weapon system which has been regarded as top-priority work amid a special concern of the Party Central Committee is of great strategic significance in extraordinarily enhancing independent and advanced defence science and technological capability of the country and strengthening the self-defensive power of our state in an all round way .

In the first test-launch, the defence scientists confirmed the navigation control and stability of the missile in the active section and proved the technical indices such as the guided mobility and gliding flight character of the splitted hypersonic gliding flight warhead.

It also proved the stability of ampule missile fuel system and engine which have been introduced for the first time.
The result of the test showed that all the technical indices met the requirements of designs.

Pak Jong Chon pointed out the strategic importance of the development of the hypersonic missile and its deployment for action and military significance of ampule fuel system of all missiles.

He called upon all the defence science groups and workers in the ammunition field to make redoubled efforts to implement the decisions of the Eighth Congress of the WPK, true to our Party’s policy on attaching importance to defence science and technology and thus achieve continued great successes in the work for strengthening the defence capability of the country.
